About this injector
An injector has to open, deliver a precisely metered quantity of fuel as a fine mist, and shut again cleanly, tens of times a second, inside a chamber hot enough to ignite diesel. The spray pattern is what makes the fuel burn completely. When the nozzle holes wear, coke up or erode, that pattern collapses into a dribble or a jet, and combustion goes with it.
The symptoms are recognisable. A misfire or rough idle that smooths out under load. Black smoke and rising fuel consumption. White smoke and hard starting when atomisation is poor. A leaking injector can also wash the bore, dilute the oil and in the worst case burn a piston crown.
A quality OEM alternative is available: Bosch 0445120202. It carries a 1 year warranty rather than the two years on the genuine MAN part, and is often the sensible commercial choice on an older engine. We will quote both so you can decide.

Replace injectors as a full set wherever possible, fit new copper washers and sealing rings every time, and torque to the specified figure with a calibrated wrench.
